What are those cupping marks exactly and what does cupping do?
☯️ Cupping promotes circulation and blood flow which speeds up healing. In Chinese medical terms, it increases the flow of qi and blood.
☯️ The “marks” that come up are not bruises but is actually stagnant blood that has been trapped in the muscles which has been blocking fresh blood from coming into the area and healing the tissue. This stagnant blood causes pain, decreases flexibility and range of motion, and slows down the healing process.
☯️ The cups act as a suction and pull this old stagnant blood to the surface of the skin. This, in turn, makes room for fresh blood to move into the area to speed up healing.
☯️ Everything you need to heal is in fresh blood. Our blood carries nutrition from the food we eat, neurotransmitters from the brain, and the bodies own anti-inflammatories and pain killers.
☯️ Just 10 minutes of cupping is equivalent to getting an hour of deep tissue massage.
☯️ Cupping, in addition to getting acupuncture, speeds up healing three times faster than if you were just to get acupuncture alone. We have observed this clinically over the years.
☯️Cupping is detoxifying.
☯️Most times, the results are immediate and people quickly notice a huge reduction in pain and an increase in mobility.
☯️ Cupping is relaxing and a lot of our patients tell us that this is their favorite part of the treatment.
At Lakewood Ranch Acupuncture and Wellness we provide complementary cupping with every visit or you can come in just for a cupping session. We love what we do and we love to help!
